Majority of the Internet users don't bother about the DNS server addresses and continue to use the DNS server of their ISP (Internet Service Provider) Itself. There are a variety of DNS servers to choose from, like the Open DNS and Google DNS . one way to find yours is by typing ipconfig/all in command prompt. Here is the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 .Its not necessary to use both, you can use Open DNS as an alternative or vice-versa
How To Choose The Best DNS Server?
You don't need to bang your head in finding the most appropriate one when some good softwares like DNSBench and NameBench are there. These software s run benchmark tests and shows you the best one.
I recommend DNSBench as its display the results faster.NameBench is also good but comparatively takes more time to complete the test. In order to run the test, double click on the DNSBench icon and under the nameservers tab click on "Run Benchmark" and wait for a couple of minutes before the results appear.
